The Nannybee Advantage

Member Training

Community members of Upper Manhattan came together to form the first NannyBee, Nannybee Upper Manhattan, in 2017. Before launching, they received training and technical assistance in order to establish and manage their cooperative business, including democratic decision-making, finances and legal work. The founding members then completed nanny training workshops organized by the Worker Institute at Cornell ILR and  Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension. The training covered topics including:
  • Child/Infant CPR AED
  • Child Nutrition
  • Socio-emotional learning of Children
  • Pediatric Health
  • Parent Communication

Values

NannyBee Northern Manhattan honors the following values in our work with families and with each other:

History

NannyBee Northern Manhattan is a joint effort of Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation, the Center for Family Life [link], and members of the community. These partners came together in winter 2017 to help the immigrant community overcome the barriers they face in creating their own economic opportunities in New York City.
